July 3, 2020. – The weather. That’s right, when things look down, both businesses are tempted to come up with the same excuse: “It was too rainy.” Experienced plywood customers have heard this occasionally from sales managers, who carry it always in their “toolkit”. They say “deliveries might be late as there is a log shortage due to rainy weather”. Sometimes they are right, sometimes they just cannot find a better reason. Studies about climate change show that these sales explanations are going to be ever more relevant in the future. Winters will be milder and rainier. Summers will be hotter. There will be more storms. Plywood producers should find their way to secure the log supply or the “tourists” will go someplace else.
