Spanish plywood import at a turning point

Spain suffered a deep dip during the 2008 financial crisis. Its recovery took most of the 2010s, but started to accelerate towards the end of the decade. It is probable that 2019 will remain a peak year for the near future. 2020 January – April imports were down 31 % compared to the same period last year.

The Spanish plywood market is divided by only a few countries of origin. Import from Finland, Russia and Latvia totals 56 %, which implies a dominant role of birch plywood. Among the “Others”, China (4.9 %) and Chile (4.4 %) stand out, while the rest is scattered to small streams.
