Spain’s plywood export tripled in 10 years

During the ten-year period from 2010, Spanish plywood exports tripled in value to 248 million euros per year. New production capacity and the increasing popularity of poplar plywood are the drivers behind the growth.

The Garnica Group dominates the Spanish plywood production as well as the export. Moison is a traditional and small poplar plywood producer in Zaragosa. A newcomer in plywood production is Losan, who is currently ramping up its new mill in Villabrázaro, Zamora. The planned annual capacity of the mill is 40 000 m3.

The customers for Spanish plywood are concentrated in four countries: Germany, France, the USA and the Netherlands. In 2019, these countries received 69 % of Spain’s plywood export.
