Plywood glue made of birch bark?

Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry is applying for a patent for thermoactive binders. The planned use for the binders is plywood and particleboard production. 

The invention refers to a method for obtaining thermoreactive binders by isolating them from birch outer bark.

During the last few years, the interest for bio based adhesives has been increasing. The idea is to replace fossil-based resins in wood panel production.
