September 25, 2020. – Plywood is a global business. It is no news that the panels sail the seven seas of the world. But still today, so do the logs. When the raw material supply chains are long, transparency and traceability gets difficult. Forest management and harvesting ethics vary in different regions.

The common certificates like EUTR, PEFC and FSC serve a good cause. However, plenty of wood boards are traded without certificates. Plywood without a certificate can be sustainable, just like a certificate can sometimes be fake. That’s why it’s good to keep our eyes open. We have an interest in doing business legally and we should equally have an interest in legal logging, world-wide. Wood sustainability is business sustainability.
