Spruce plywood exports were stable throughout the 2010s. The average quarterly volume was around 120 000 m3 until 2019. By the end of that year, a clear decline had set in. While the February strike and Corona impact caused a drop during Q1, 2020, the market already started deteriorating before that. Apparently the price hike made the turn steeper for the Finns.

The Netherlands is by far the largest destination country. Last year the Dutch import amounted to 122 000 m3. Less than 1% of the Finnish export volume goes outside of Europe. Spruce plywood is produced by UPM Plywood and Metsä Wood.
