Finnish birch plywood export in decline

Monthly volumes of birch plywood out of Finland are diminishing. The 2017 average monthly volume of birch plywood was 31 000 m3, whereas in 2019 the comparable figure was only 24 000 m3. The strike In February completed the gloomy trend, with exports for that month sinking to 7479 m3.

Based on the export statistics, a favourable price development continued until the winter season 2018/2019. As the delivered volumes started to erode during 2018, prices still kept climbing, driven by the progressive pricing strategy of the Finnish plywood producers.
