The birch plywood export from Finland totalled 76 390 m3 between January and April 2020. That is 32 percent less than 2019. A big reason for the decline was the Finnish employee strike in February. The February export was 7479 m3 (25 929 m3 in 2019).
However, even without the strike the January – April volume would have been clearly below the levels of the same period in previous years.
Another exceptional incident, the Corona virus, did not have a significant impact yet in April. Exports during that month amounted to 24 599 m3, compared to last year’s 28 138 m3.
