China is by far the largest plywood producer in the world. However, based on Eurostat data, Russia dominates the EU imports of broad-leaved plywood. Whereas the import from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus is concentrated in birch plywood, the Chinese import has more variety in wood species. It is remarkable that the tropical plywood import from South-East Asia has become insignificant.
